Diamantina Australian Made Sit-On-Top Kayaks

Diamantina kayaks are the best sit-on-top kayaks for the whole family because they are easy to paddle, super strong, lightweight and virtually indestructible.  A sit-on-top kayak allows the paddler to use the kayak like a ski to surf waves as well as for flat water paddling.  The Diamantina Kayak range are very stable due to the hull design, transfering water easily from the front to the rear of the water craft, allowing the kayak to travel across the surface of the water with very little effort.  These great boats suit the recreational paddler as little or no skill is required to paddle them, making them suitable for both the young and the young at heart.

The Diamantina range of kayaks are now supplied Australia wide and are proudly made here in Australia using Australian made products.  The powder used in the construction is of the highest quality and has a top UV resistance rating.  The finished product is carefully inspected and finished to provide a quality watercraft that is strong, looks good and will provide enjoyment on the water for many years to come.

How are they made ?

The polyethylene moulded kayaks seen here are made using a rotational moulding method.  The polyethylene is supplied in a pellet/ powder form.  The powder is supplied in the desired colour and has been UV treated to reduce fading in the sun.  The desired colours of the powder are poured in to the bottom half of the mould.  The top half is then secured and the ovens and rotational machines are switched on.  The ovens melt the powder to a liquid form and the machine rotates on its axis as well as up and down to ensure the liquid is evenly distributed across the moulded shape.  This process takes approx 30 minutes at which time the machines are then turned off and the shape is left to set and dry.  Once the mould has set, the boat is removed from the oven and allowed to cool for another 30 minutes.  After this time the detail of the grab rope, hatches and other trimmings are applied to the boat and packaged ready for collection.
